As professor of Gastroenterology at the Digestive Diseases Centre at the University of Nottingham, Prof. Spiller also acted as past editor of Gut (2003-2009) and member of the Board of the Rome Foundation (2000-2015).
He twice edited the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Guidelines for the management of IBS and is author/co-author of more than 388 scientific reviews and original publications.
His main research interest includes the pathophysiology of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), particularly the role of infection, inflammation, diet and alterations in the microbiome.

Prof. Mohamed El Kassas
EGYPT
Prof. El Kassas is associate professor and chief of Endemic Medicine and Hepato-Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University, Egypt and president of the Egyptian Association for Research and Training in Hepato-Gastroenterology (EARTH).
His main research areas include hepatocellular carcinoma, viral hepatitis, infectious diseases and gastroenterology.
Prof. El Kassas has published over 80 articles with an H-index of 18. Moreover, he is currently a reviewer in more than 40 hepatology and gastroenterology journals and is appointed as an editorial board member in various international journals.
